Course description
This course provides students with the skills and knowledge for working in supervision and management roles in a range of hospitality areas such as bars, liquor and food service, hotel reception, front office and gaming, cookery and food production.
Students will learn many aspects of hospitality management in this Diploma including planning and controlling products and operations, promoting goods and services to customers, maintaining building and premises safe; ensuring legal compliance of the business, and managing finance and budgets
The participants will also learn how to lead, supervise and manage a team of people within the hospitality industry environment.
In addition to management and supervisory skills, students will learn a broad range of culinary skills including planning, preparing, cooking and serving food in a commercial kitchen environment.
By successfully completing appropriate 29 units of competency from this Diploma, students may exit with SIT 30807: Certificate III in Hospitality ( Commercial Cookery).
The course includes both theory classes and practical classes in the CIBT kitchen, and incorporates a period of work experience in a commercial environment.
Successful completion of this Diploma will provide graduates with the opportunity to work as cooks and chefs in a range of catering operations such as restaurants and hotels. With additional operational experience, they may also work as supervisors or managers in other areas of the hospitality such as front office, bars and restaurants and gaming.
The course is for those people who are seeking a career as a manager or supervisor in the hospitality industry with focus to kitchen operation and management.
This Diploma may provide pathways to further study in the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality and other relevant undergraduate programs within the Australian university systems.
The duration of this course is 78 weeks altogether, plus 16 weeks term break Students must attend lectures and practical for 20 hours a week, face-to-face.
Entry requirements for this certificate are: literacy and mathematical skills of 11-12 years of school standard and a minimum of 5.5 in IELTS score. If your IELTS score is less than 5.5 you will be advised to take a 12 weeks ELICOS course at CIBT.
Tuition fee for this qualification is A$ 23, 000/ excluding enrolment and equipment/materials fee. Enrolment fee is A$ 200/- There will be an additional charge of A$ 700/- for uniform, books and equipment.
