Course description

The course will provide students with practical training in the accounting discipline, leading to careers to work as assistants to accountants, tax clerks and audit clerks.

In this course, students will learn to:
• Process payrolls and business tax requirements
• Prepare financial reports, operational budgets and income tax returns
• Manage budgets and forecasts
• Administer accounts payable
• Establish and maintain accounting information systems
• Implement and maintain internal control procedures
• Monitor corporate governance activities

This Diploma is developed under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) and as such it is a government accredited and nationally recognised course.

It will provide prerequisites to undertake Advanced Diploma of Accounting. It may also assist you in enrolling for undergraduate degrees in accounting in Australian universities.

The Certified Practicing Accountants of Australia (CPA) provide these Diploma holders up to one (1) year credit while enrolling for Certified Public Accountant (CPA) course.

The Diploma of Accounting is a highly valued qualification by the financial services industry, the education and training providers and the wider community within Australia.

The course requires you to complete four (4) core industry units, five (5) prerequisite units, five (5) sectoral core units and three (3) elective units or a total of seventeen (17) units.

The course aims to provide intermediate level skills in accounting focused to introducing and maintaining accounting systems, reporting on business performance, preparing financial statements, maintaining internal control systems and preparing management accounting reports.

After undertaking this course you can endeavour to find work as a assistant financial reporter, financial manager, internal controller or costing officer.

You must have literacy and mathematical skills of 12 years of school standards or, equivalent and a minimum of 5.5 in IELTS score to undertake this course. Alternatively, you should have completed FNS 40604 Certificate IV in Financial Services (Accounting)
