Course description
This course provides students with the basic accounting skills
and assists them to become trainee accountants, clerical assistants,
bookkeepers, payroll clerks and receivable and payable account
assistants. The course provides industry recommended pathway
for people who may be involved in preparing a variety of business
activity statements (BAS) such as preparing office taxes, operational
reports, management reports, budgets, basic job costing reports,
and classifying, recording and reporting of accounting information,
and maintaining inventory records.
Students completing this course will be awarded the nationally
accredited Certificate IV in Financial Services (Accounting),
which is also a pre-requisite for membership into the Association
of Accounting Technicians (AAT), the body which provides recognition
for independently practicing bookkeeping and accounting consultants.
The course can lead to advanced study pathway such as Diploma
in Accounting, and could be recognised by some universities
to undertake further studies in accounting.
The main objective of this course is to teach all aspects of
basic accounting skills in the context of Australian legal,
technological and accounting standards and environments.
The course provides specific skills in:
• Preparing financial reports and operational budgets
• Creating and using simple spreadsheets
• Maintaining financial records
• Setting-up and operating computerized accounting systems
• Managing budgets and forecasts
• Producing job costing information, and
• Maintaining asset and inventory records
Course duration will be 42 weeks full time. Minimum 20 hours
per week face-to- face.
Entry requirements are: Literacy and mathematical skills of
12 years of school standards, and a minimum of 5.5 in IELTS
score, 18 or above in age.
Tuition fee for this qualification is A$ 8, 200 excluding enrolment
and material fee.
